When Music Meets Meditation: Heartfulness Brings a Soulful Evening to Kolkata

Heartfulness brought yet another harmonious celebration of music and meditation where artistic expression and inner stillness came together at its ashram in Anandpur today. The evening offered a deeply resonant experience bringing together the contemplative practice of Heartfulness meditation and the emotive power of Indian classical music. The programme featured child prodigy Anirban Roy on the flute, and vocalist Maitrayee Roy, whose soulful performances created an atmosphere of serenity and inward connection.

The free, walk-in event drew a diverse audience comprising young people, students, corporate professionals and individuals from different walks of life. For many, the morning offered an opportunity to step away from the bustle of everyday life and experience a more soulful introspection with music.

Revered Daaji – Guide of Heartfulness and President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission said about the unique music cum meditation festival, “As we need exercise for physical health, so do we need meditation to nurture our spiritual health. Music, especially classical music, has a deep spiritual connect as well. Various raagas have the power to heal our body and soul in different ways. When music and meditation come together, it is all the more beneficial.”

Vocalist Maitraryee Roy had to say about performing at the event, “I feel privileged to perform front of an audience who are sincere spiritual seekers under the keen guidance of revered Daaji and ready to absorb the spiritual aspect of music as well.”

“This is a beautiful opportunity for us artists to partake of Heartfulness meditation and render classical music at the same time to a lovely audience,” added child prodigy and flautist Anirban Roy.

At the heart of the experience was the essence of Heartfulness, a simple yet profound practice that encourages individuals to turn inward and connect with the heart. Through relaxation and meditation, the practice seeks to quieten the mind, bring greater balance to emotions and cultivate a deeper sense of inner peace.

About Heartfulness: Heartfulness offers a simple set of meditative practices and lifestyle changes, first developed at the turn of the twentieth century and formalized into teaching through the Shri Ram Chandra Mission in 1945 in India with a goal to bring peace, happiness, and wisdom to one heart at a time. These practices are a modern form of Yoga designed to support contentment, inner calm, and stillness, compassion, courage, and clarity of thought, as the first step towards a purposeful life. They are simple and easily adopted and are appropriate for people from all walks of life, cultures, religious beliefs, and economic situations, who are over the age of fifteen. Ongoing training in Heartfulness practices continues at thousands of schools and colleges, and over 100,000 professionals are meditating in corporations, non-governmental, and government bodies worldwide. More than 5,000 Heartfulness Centers are supported by thousands of certified volunteer trainers and millions of practitioners in 160 countries.
