In one more announcement of the morning, it was revealed that Satyajit Ray’s Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne is undergoing a prestigious 4K restoration by Film Heritage in association with Martin Scorsese’s Film Foundation, which will be showcased in 2027. As the timeless masterpiece returns to the global stage in a restored avatar, Srijit’s film Maharaja Tomare Selam too is slated for release in 2027—creating a rare moment where the story behind the classic and the classic itself will be celebrated together.
Held at Priya Cinema in association with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, the event became far more than a film launch. It marked the beginning of a larger cultural celebration—one that honours a cinematic legacy while opening new chapters for generations to come.
With a landmark 4K restoration premiering next year, Srijit Mukherji’s deeply personal tribute to the making of a masterpiece, and a brand-new story carrying the Goopy Bagha universe into the future, 2027 is shaping up to be the year of Goopy and Bagha.
