USA based internationally famed multi lingual author and poet Padmini Dutta Sharma has been able to create a niche for herself and her books in the 46th Kolkata International Book Fair where her latest titles were on display at Rupa’s stall no. 418. Out of the 13 title she owns, 7 of of which are best sellars, Padmini had only limited editions for display and sale this year; her books are all published and distributed worldwide by Amazon USA. Her first lot of ‘Love by a thousand cuts’ and ‘Glass splinters’ were all sold out within the first four days of the fair, the second lot is also on its way.

Padmini’s books have been able to attract the fancy of her readers by her literary skills and right portrayal of human emotions. Padmini believes that in order to depict the human emotions in its real form, one has to delve deep into the human psyche to understand the trials and tribulations that one goes through and then portray the same in a way where readers can easily relate to. On asking her about the limited supply of her much sought after books she said, ‘I was completely misguided when I was told that readers of Bengal are not much interested in English books, they prefer to buy books in the regional language. Next time I’ll make sure I have abundant supply of all the genres of my books.’ She personally apologized to her readers who had to go back disappointed, ‘I’m truly sorry, please buy online, I’ll make sure you get special discounts.’ Padmini’s humility was worth noticing when she thanked God and the Chief Minister of West Bengal for such a marvelous arrangement ; however we could see her face brighten up when she spoke about her son and his contribution in every achievement of hers. Having married her childhood heart throb, it was a sheer delight to hear her husband Bhaskar speak proudly about his wife’s multi dimensional talent.
