Kolkata: Marking 34 years of its commitment to education and community development, Madurdaha Satyavritti Vidyalaya (MSV), the education wing of Dakshini Prayash, celebrated its 34th Foundation Day, Satat Pravah ’26, with the theme “World Peace and Child Rights.” The programme brought together students, parents, educators and members of the community, with Prof. (Dr.) Soma Bandyopadhyay, Former Vice Chancellor, West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning & Administration, attending as the Guest of Honour.
The celebration highlighted Dakshini Prayash’s distinctive approach to education, which extended beyond classroom learning to the holistic development of children, strengthening families and nurturing responsible citizens. What began with just four children studying under a tree had grown into an English-medium school serving around 400 children.
Speaking on the organisation’s journey, Anubhuti Prakash, President, Dakshini Prayash, said, “We have always tried to provide holistic education and focus on the overall development of every child. Our aim is not only to help children become progressive and successful, but also to ensure that they grow into individuals who can give back to society. What started with four children has now grown to around 400 students in an English-medium school, and that journey has been deeply meaningful for us.”
Prof. (Dr.) Soma Bandyopadhyay said, “Dakshini Prayash has given its students a truly holistic approach to education, where development and becoming a good human being remain at the heart of its work. The organisation is helping children build confidence, creativity and new skills while identifying and nurturing their individual talents. Every child is gifted, and the responsibility lies in discovering that potential. The theme of World Peace and Child Rights was particularly relevant, as children are deeply affected by conflicts and wars across the world.”
The organisation’s model also extended to parents and families through awareness and engagement programmes, while initiatives around skill development and women’s empowerment supported greater economic self-reliance. Several MSV alumni have also returned to the institution as teachers and staff members, creating a cycle of learning and giving back.
Through education, child development, family empowerment and social responsibility, Dakshini Prayash continued to strengthen its vision of building not just successful students, but compassionate, confident and socially conscious citizens.
