Kolkata, December 17th, 2022: From actor George Clooney to author Anne Frank, management guru Peter Drucker to Google founders Larry Page and Sergei Brien – all these iconic names, who have been known for their innovative initiatives, self confidence and creativity have been Montessori students. In a recent seminar held at SPK JAIN Futuristic Academy, Ms. Ramya Sridhar, Association Montessori Internationale Primary Trainer who also holds a Master in Psychology conducted an interactive workshop with parents and educators discussing “Parenting Challenges in Today’s Global Village” where she highlighted the benefits of Montessori education.
This seminar is a part of a series of engagements and activities that will be held by the institute to facilitate experiential learning focussed on creating well grounded individuals and leaders for tomorrow.
The interactive session also saw educational experts Mr. Darshan Mutha and Ms. Satabdi Bhattacharjee (former Principal, The Newtown School, Kolkata) discussing various parenting issues with the audience thus providing positive solutions in dealing with child-rearing in today’s complex world.
Ms Ramya Shridhar, Association Montessori Internationale Primary Trainer engaged the audience by introducing them to the World of Montessori education. She highlighted the fact that children have their own ” inner time tables” which help to develop the foundations of the child. “They should never be rushed or put under pressure. Give them time to explore and innovate “ she said.
Speaking at the event she also said that the child is endowed with unknown powers, which can guide them to a radiant future. “If what we want is really a new world, then education must take as it’s aim the development of these hidden possibilities. Thus the whole concept of education changes – if such is the objective, education is no longer an enforced task of verbal instructions and intellectual retention of ideas. It becomes a matter of helping the child to reach its desired potential.”
Ms Sridhar also focused on the independence of children and how experiential learning of children is the key to know the world. “Give children endless time so that they can practice. Teach them that their only competition is they themselves and they need to better themselves every single day. Such solid foundation if instilled in childhood creates well grounded and successful adults who can cope with stress and pressure in the modern world,” she said.
The session concluded with a Q/A where prospective parents have their parenting concerns addressed by Ramya.
