Kolkata: Marking 70 years of its contribution to India’s paints and coatings industry, the Indian Small Scale Paint Association (ISSPA) – Eastern Region convened its 21st Annual Regional Meeting, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs to discuss technology adoption, industrial collaboration and the future of MSMEs.
The meeting was attended by Shri Tapas Ray, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Commerce & Industries Department, Government of West Bengal, and Shri Ajay Kumar Poddar, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Public Works Department, Government of West Bengal. Addressing the gathering, Shri Poddar reiterated the State Government’s commitment to industrial development, emphasising that entrepreneurs and industrialists remain central to West Bengal’s vision of becoming a leading manufacturing and investment destination.
The Association unveiled several initiatives aimed at strengthening the MSME ecosystem through innovation, sustainability and digital transformation. Recognising the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence, ISSPA collaborated with AI4BI to enable member companies to understand and integrate AI into their businesses, enhancing productivity while reducing dependence on repetitive manual processes. Through its Member Connect Initiative, the Association also reinforced business networking and collaboration among members.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the growing interest from companies in Western and Northern India in exploring long-term contracts, strategic partnerships, acquisitions and business collaborations in Eastern India, reflecting the region’s increasing attractiveness as an industrial hub.
“As ISSPA completed 70 years of service to the industry, our priority remained creating new opportunities for MSMEs through technology adoption, sustainability and stronger industry partnerships. We remained committed to ensuring our members stay globally competitive while contributing to India’s industrial growth,” said Mr. Harsh Vardhan Rungta, Chairman, ISSPA Eastern Region.
The programme concluded with remarks by Vice Chairman Mr. Aman Luna and Secretary Mr. Vishal Golcha on the impact of the current geopolitical situation on the industry, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Treasurer Mr. Gunjan Shah.
