Two years back, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Windows had released Brahma
Janen Gopon Kommoti, featuring Ritabhari Chakraborty in the role of a woman priest. The film
ran to packed houses ahead of the nationwide lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic in
India. In its 13-day run in theatres, it was lapped up by audiences across Bengal. The film was
included in the Indian Panorama of the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI),
Goa, which took place in January, 2021.
Two years hence, Windows is back with yet another film announcement on Women’s Day. The
film titled Fatafati is presented by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee and directed by
Aritra Mukherjee. It stars Ritabhari Chakraborty and Abir Chatterjee in the lead. This is the
second collaboration for both the actors with Windows. While Ritabhari was in Brahma Janen
Gopon Kommoti, Abir played the lead in Manojder Adbhut Bari. The first look of the actors were
launched today from all the social media handles of Windows. Said Ritabhari, “I am immensely
proud of Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti not because of the box office success that it brought
us, but the change it brought about in society with women priests taking a step forward. With
this film too, I hope to drive home a very important message. Not only am I confident about the
team I am working with, I am truly happy to be back with them, as it feels like home.” Abir, on his
part, added, “I have always wanted to work with Windows and am delighted to be a part of this
film. Also, cinema is an important medium and we, as actors, want to communicate a few things
through it, as much as we want to entertain people. Fatafati has both in equal measure.”
Fatafati is about an XL model and highlights the important issue of body-shaming. While the
story and screenplay are by Zinia Sen, dialogues are penned by Samragnee Bandopadhyay.
Talking about the film, Shiboprosad said, “Windows always focuses on creating original contents
that are meaningful. We are happy to bring the audience yet another film that will be both
important and entertaining.”
Aritra, who is back with his third film after Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti and the more recent
Baba, Baby O…, which is running successfully in theatres, said, “I have worked with Ritabhari,
who is a powerful actor, and wanted to collaborate with her again. About Abir, he is excellent in
every role that he plays. In this film, he will be in a completely different avatar and me and my
team are excited to embark on a new journey.”
Fatafati, which will go on the floors from mid-April, is all set to release early next year.
