- On the auspicious occasion of Diwali 2021, Small Taalk Ideas helmed by actor Sampaurna Lahiri & producer Rahul Bhanja announce their second Bengali feature starring Vikram Chatterjee & Ditipriya Roy. The yet untitled venture will be directed by Aditya Sengupta.
Anando Sangbad Live:This is the first time Vikram and Ditipriya will be introduced as an incredibly fresh pair on the big screen.The film will see them as two friends who bond over a beautiful road-trip journey that helps them discover life and more. This would be actor turned director Aditya Sengupta’s debut as a filmmaker on the silver screen, who is popularly remembered for his portrayal of boy-next-door in the film ‘Projapati Biscuit’ .
This announcement couldn’t get any better as the custodian of the Bengali film fraternity (fondly referred to as the ‘industry’ by many) , legendary actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, blessed the trio as they embark on their new journey and ushered them to take the bastion of Bengali cinema forward with their new film. Vikram, who enjoys a volley of successful work over film, television and OTT and recently wrapped up his Bollywood debut, shared his excitement about the new venture : “Me and Ditipriya are working together for a film and it is being directed by Aditya Sengupta. I’ve known Aditya for a while and we’ve been planning to do a film together since 2017 which is finally materialising now. The script is brilliant, simple, and lovable. The film is about friendship and love in the backdrop of a journey. Simple storytelling excites me a lot because people relate to it easily. I’m absolutely craving to go shoot this film. It will be very exciting to work with Aditya, Ditipriya, Rahul, Sampurna and the entire team. It is a very young team and will bring a lot of freshness onscreen”
The bubbling young actor, Ditipriya, who has been ruling the television screen for years and is now making her way into the big screen said: “This film is all about friendship and love. I’m delighted to be working with Bushka da (Aditya Sengupta). I was his sister in law in his first acting venture Projapoti Biscuit and now he’s directing me in his first directorial venture. I’m also very excited to be working alongside Vikram da and this will be our first film together. We’ve made an amazing bond & I hope this bonding & friendship will reflect on screen also .We will be shooting in the beautiful locales of Sikkim. This project is a collaboration of young people and I hope the audience will enjoy it!”
Aditya who debuts with this project as a feature film director said: “With this film, the aim is to tell a generational story. About friendship, love, and a journey of self discovery. These are all universal themes, and hopefully the audience will be able to connect with the story and the characters in a unique, emotional way. It’s a simple, soulful story… filled with the little things that make life worth living. Two lifelong friends embark on a road trip to the mountains, to fulfil a childhood plan. This journey brings them closer to each other but also makes them realize how far apart their realities are. At the core of the film is a friendship, which is more than a decade old, and this story looks at how relationships with friends change over time. I hope that this film resonates deeply with people, and brings a smile to their faces.
Optimistic about this new collaboration, actor turned producer Sampurna Lahiri , Co-Founder of Small Taalk Ideas said: ” This is our second venture as a production house and is special for various reasons. My association with both Vikram and Aditya goes way back. While Aditya was my first co-actor in a docu- feature that we worked on together , Vikram and I have been friends for over a decade and have always planned to work together in a film. Finally our wish comes true but as an actor-producer jodi. Ditipriya is a charming girl and a brilliant actor. I’m glad she’s part of our film. This announcement becomes more special as the guardian of the film industry , Bumba da (Prosenjit Chatterjee ) sent us his blessings and wishes. There is nothing more I can ask as a new producer. “
The soon-to-be-titled venture will be shot extensively in the breathtaking locales of Sikkim with a tribute to the filmmaking gharana of Imtiaz Ali. Music will play an integral part in the film. Music will be composed by none other than the talented musician Ranajoy Bhattacharya.
Produced by Small Taalk Ideas (Sampurna Lahiri and Rahul Bhanja) and Kashish (by Kamal Pugulia) , directed by Aditya Sengupta, the new film starring Vikram Chatterjee and Ditipriya Roy is scheduled to start this year (2021)
