Surinder Films and Soham’s Entertainment’s Shastri to release on 8th October

Surinder Films and Soham’s Entertainment revealed the first look of their upcoming pujo film, one that is set to defy all expectations; Shastri. An exploration of family, fate and life itself, Shastri brings forth an unrivaled cinematic experience for its viewers.

The film stars veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty, Debasree Roy along with Soham Chakraborty, Saswata Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen, Anirban Chakraborti, Sauraseni Maitra, Rajatava Dutta and Ayush Das.

Shastri also marks Mithun Chakraborty and Debashree Roy’s collaboration after 16 years making it a highly anticipated revival of the magic of yesteryears “Shooting with Mithun da is always fun, as he is like family to me. The last film we were partI wasn’t cast opposite him. So, we are being paired together in this film after quite a long time, and we are having a really great time on the sets. Most of the time, he cracks jokes on the sets or pulls some prank. The audience used to love our jodi once, and I hope they will show us the same love.” adds Debasree Roy.

“I have two looks in the film. One is that of a struggling man who is at odds with reality. He is a simpleton who is bullied and oppressed. He belongs to the working class. When he transforms into a Shastri, he is able to exact his revenge from his wrongdoers. When he does become a Shastri, then too, he takes on three different looks. First is that of a baba, then that of a well established persona, and finally a messiah. Excited and looking forward to the film’s big release this pujo” said veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty.

Talking about his character and the film Soham Chakraborty said, “My character is an astrophysicist by profession. He’s against those who misinterpret astrology and promote superstition.
There’s no doubt about Shastri being the biggest Pujo film. I’m positive that the viewers will find our caption justified after watching the trailer.”

Helmed by director Pathikrit Basu, music by Indraadip Dasgupta, the film is set to hit the screens this Pujo from 8th October.
