Kolkata 11th Dec 2021: The 96th Annual Children Treat of Rotary Club of Calcutta is held on Saturday, the 11th December 2021 at Rotary Sadan. The function was graced by Dr Santanu Sen, Member of Parliament, Rotarian Mr Prabir Chatterjee D G, Rotary District 3291, Noted Physician Dr Sukumar Mukherjee and others.
The idea of providing a Day of Sunshine to the underprivileged children was conceived by a Rotarian of this Club in 1925 and since then this had become the Flagship event of Rotary Club of Calcutta.
Keeping in mind about the pandemic standard operating procedure this year 250 kids came in phases to enjoy the day. Packed foods were served to the children on their arrival at Rotary Sadan. Throughout the day the kids enjoyed a film show, magic show, and different games show. As Christmas is round the corner Santa distributed gifts to all participant kids. The children all tired but happy, with a glow in the hearts of the receivers and givers, waiting for one more year for their Day of Sunshine exactly as it was envisioned 96 years ago.
Mrs Sujata Pyne, President Rotary club of Calcutta; Mrs Sonal Worah & Mr Abhijit Koley, Convenor of this event tirelessly conducted the event. The successful organizing of this event year after year is due to the commitment and dedication not only of the Rotarians and their R-Annes but also that of the Retractors and Interactors who from early morning till evening remain with the children acting as their guides and escorts and also lending their hands by serving breakfast and lunch to the children.
This year the Club organized this programme by strictly adhering to the Covid-19 protocols as laid down by the Government.
