Princeton Club Gears Up for Bengali New Year Celebration with a Lavish Spread

Bengali New year is on the anvil – barely two weeks away . Princeton Club is all set to usher in the Bengali new year in its true spirit with a sumptuous fare for the connoisseurs of food. Bengal is typically known as the land of “Maach and Bhaat”-fish and rice and has enriched its cuisine with inspiration from diverse culinary skills of India. However Princeton Club has adhered to a quintessential Bengali spread.


Embark on your gastronomic journey with a refreshing “Tulsi Doier Ghol,” a traditional Bengali welcome drink akin to lassi, infused with the aromatic essence of basil leaves. Delight your palate with appetizers like kancha aam makha (green mango slices with spices), Alu Kabli (boiled potato slices with spices and lemon), tomato pora (charred tomato with spices), and simple boiled channa or “siddha chola makha.”
The main course in Bengali new year cuisine is a treasure trove of options. “Thakur barir Shukto” – a signature Bengali mixed vegetable curry cooked in milk with a recipe reminiscent of recipes from Tagore’s household in the nineteenth century. Vegetarian options abound, including classics like “Cholar dal narkel diye” paired with “jhurjhure alu bhaja with curry pata” – thinly sliced potato fries with curry leaves, a quintessential Bengali delicacy.that cannot be missed.
The gastronomic journey will continue with an array of vegetarian dishes like “ tok jhal alur dom” , Chanar pur with Potol Dorma– healthy chana stuffed pointed gourd , Niramish dhoka paneer dalna” , chalkumror bora and narkel chalkumro’r ghanto.
