About Pathchala :- Conceived by Late Smt Indrani Ganguly and supported by her husband Late Shri Ashish Ganguly, PATHCHALA began it’s journey way back in the year 2001 . Father Wavrail of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Father Ignatious of the Greek Church of Kolkata and like minded friends including Mrs. Krishna Gupta ,Mrs. Ashoka Mukherjee, Mrs. Nanda Ghosh Dastidar, Mrs. Banshari Saha, Mrs Reena Chatterjee and Mrs. Smita Chatterjee came to support this initiative. Initially it was named named Kalighat Prathamik Vidyalaya, which started with only 6 small children and 2 teachers.
Rukmini Paul, daughter of the founder Indrani Ganguly took the baton from the then President Mrs. Krishna Gupta in the year 2021 to join the Trustee Board and assume greater responsibilities.
Now the society has about 60 children, who apart from being taught to read and write, are also taught to see, to enjoy, to feel, to respect, to share , virtues which make them feel they are loved, wanted and very much a part of this beautiful world. PATHCHALA focuses mainly on these aspects..
1. Literacy Drive
2. Coaching & Mentoring
3. Admissions in School
4. Healthcare
5. Development of creative talent.
Literacy is provided through value based education. Importance of cleanliness, honesty, and family values are taught through close interactions with teachers and participating members. Story telling sessions are encouraged. As a result of such interactions, quite a few children, earlier engaged in begging for alms have completely given up the practice. PATHCHALA has taught them that begging is shameful. All in all we strongly believe in creating a holistic approach towards our NGO and are always working together to achieve that goal.
