One vertical of WOWL promises to make quality supplementary learning aligned with Pre-Madhyamik board curriculum in Bengali medium available to the millions of pupils in all corners of West Bengal, FREE OF COST. WOWL was launched in the presence of Mir Afsar Ali on November 15 at The Astor Hotel.
In the other flank of WOWL, it endeavours to deliver customised world-class language programmes, partnering with Union Education Group (UEG). Union Education Group, operating from the ThinkSpace, Imperial College of London, UK is working with schools and other organisations in the UK and overseas and is committed to creating bespoke language packages. In India, UEG is collaborating exclusively with WOWL. The journey of UEG-WOWL starts with the extraordinary Project BELIEVES (Bespoke English Learning Initiative to Empower Vernacular Educators and Students), supported by the British Council’s Digital Learning Innovation Fund, 2022. Project BELIEVES is an initiative to propagate quality learning of English language to the teachers and students of West Bengal who are engaged in teaching/learning in Bengali medium.
West Bengal has over 10 million students, at any given time, learning in schools, across all the grades up to X, in Bengali medium. After their school-leaving examinations, they face tremendous inconvenience in adopting higher education, vocational and professional trainings in a universal medium, which is predominantly English in India. They even miss out on making the best of the plethora of information and knowledge available free on internet and otherwise. This often creates a roadblock and a substantial slice of the school-leaving youth fails to move beyond. WOWL has vowed to address this situation with a methodical approach.
The founders of WOWL, Anishabrata Ghosh and Surojit Nath, have vast experience in the field of K12 education and new-age digital education. The app meant for providing tuitions to K12 students, allows free access to pre-recorded videos of class lectures delivered by highly competent teachers – the educated and talented youth mostly from the district towns of West Bengal. The current directors of WOWL are Kathakali Sen, Piyas De and Ashis Majumdar.
WOWL has many features to offer like futuristic app technology for seamless personalised video viewing, free registration and learning access to all regular classes, high quality annotated multimedia class-videos, topic-wise full-length classes as per West Bengal Madhyamik syllabus, young and dynamic teachers and compact class format, 100% free Elementary English lessons by British Educators from UK with a customised and exclusive course module for middle school level in WB. Special classes for advanced learning, doubt clearing and mentoring and AI-driven monitoring and evaluation to be added soon.
In about six months’ time, WOWL is going to provide world-class foreign language programmes to the Indian youth with the objective of making them future ready for higher studies, research and profession, on a global landscape. WOWL will also include Indian Language programmes to encourage young generation of NRIs as well as to aid foreigners in their special interests.
