Kolkata, 7 October 2026: Eken Babu is back and this time, he has taken his trademark wit, curiosity and unmistakable investigative style all the way to Kerala.
The trailer of hoichoi studios The Eken: Kerala-e Kurukshetra was unveiled today in the presence of the film’s cast and crew, offering audiences their first extended glimpse into a mystery that promises to take Eken Babu far beyond his familiar surroundings. Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the film stars Anirban Chakrabarti as the much-loved Eken Babu, alongside Raima Sen, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, Somak Ghosh, Ritwick Chakraborty, Subrat Dutta and Kamaleswar Mukherjee.
Staying true to the spirit of the Eken universe, the trailer launch itself came with a distinctly Eken-style dose of fun. Following the cast and crew interactions, Anirban Chakrabarti revealed that there were some very special guests who had been asking the same question since the previous day—when would the Eken Babu trailer finally arrive? The young guests then joined Eken Babu on stage, before the much-awaited trailer was unveiled.
The trailer, which was played twice at the event, gives audiences a glimpse into the intriguing new case while retaining the humour, camaraderie and infectious personality that have made Eken Babu such a beloved character.
Speaking about returning as Eken Babu, Anirban Chakrabarti said,
“Eken Babu has always been a character who finds himself in situations that are much bigger and more complicated than they initially seem. Kerala-e Kurukshetra takes that spirit a few steps further. There is mystery, there is danger, there are plenty of questions and of course, Eken Babu’s very own way of looking at everything. I think audiences are going to have a lot of fun trying to figure this one out along with him.”
Director Joydeep Mukherjee said,
“The Eken universe has a very special balance of mystery, humour and character-driven storytelling. With Kerala-e Kurukshetra, we wanted to take Eken Babu into a completely new setting and give him a case that feels larger in scale while retaining the charm audiences associate with him. Kerala becomes an important part of this story, and I’m excited for audiences to finally experience the world we have created.”
Raima Sen said,
“What makes this film exciting is the world in which the mystery unfolds. There are secrets, unexpected turns and characters who all seem to have something to hide. Working with the Eken team was tremendous fun, and I think the trailer gives only a glimpse of what audiences can expect.”
Ritwick Chakraborty added,
“The Eken stories have always managed to make a mystery entertaining without losing their sense of humour. This film takes that combination into a new space. The scale is bigger; the mystery is intriguing and there is plenty for the audience to decode. I’m looking forward to seeing how people respond to it.”
The trailer launch also featured a lively interaction with the cast and crew, followed by a Q&A with the media, influencers and audience members. And, because no Eken Babu appearance can quite end without leaving behind one last question, the event concluded with the emcee asking the detective, “Khuku ke ki dekhte pabo?” To which Eken Babu, true to form, simply replied: “Kromosho Prokashyo!” leaving audiences with yet another question to ponder.
The Eken: Kerala-e Kurukshetra releases regionally on 15th October 2026 and nationally on 16th October 2026, bringing Eken Babu back to the big screen for another mystery, another adventure and, inevitably, another case that is far more complicated than it first appears.
