Honourable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, has inaugurated Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) Rajarhat, 2nd campus. In this Inaugural Ceremony of the only Government Cancer Hospital of the State, Mamata Bandyopadhyay, Honourable Chief Minister, West Bengal, has also accompanied him with her virtual Presence. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Union Minister of State, Ministry of Education, Dr. Jayanta Chakraborty, cancer surgeon, Director, CNCI, and many doctors and government officials have also graced the occasion by their august presence.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has visited all the different department of this new cancer Hospital. The land area of the Hospital is 10 acres. In the first inaugural phase, the indoor department of the Hospital has been started with 460 beds.
In the inaugural speech, Prime Minister has said that the cancer patients of the different districts of West Bengal will be treated here as per international protocol almost free of cost.The treatment is fully free to the card holders of ‘Swasthyo Sathi’ & ‘Ayushman Bharat.’ Modiji has informed that about 17 lakhs cancer patients of the country have been treated under the ’Ayushman Bharat’ card. Prime minister has also announced that the projects of 1500 crore will be realized to develop the infrastructures of Health of our state in five years. Apart from cancer treatment CNCI will have an advanced research unit.
Smt. Mamata Bandyopadhyay, chief Minister, West Bengal, has said in her speech that State Government has also taken an important roll to build this Hospital.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minster of Health, has said world class cancer treatment will be available to the all people of the Society. The MRI has been done her by 3.0 Tesla MRI Machine. Three dimensional clear picture of the inside of the body of the patients may be taken by the Hospital’s 128 slice CT scan, which helps very much to the treatment of the patients. This is the first Government funded Hospital in the state,where high end equipment’s have been installed for patient care like MALDITOF, PET CT, PCR based molecular pathology and immuno- histochemistry. It is also planned to build an accommodation for 200 persons in Rajarhat Campus for the relatives of the patients of remote districts. Health minister announces except the rajarhat campus, with the help of the State Government, they will build three modern cancer hospitals in Kolkata, Murshidabad and Bardhaman. The central health minister has hoped that these hospitals will help cancer patients of other states of Eastern India. In this reference he also says the Honourable Prime Minister’s plan. By 2024, all the medical infrastructure of the country will be developed to the best. It is hoped that in future all medical facilities will reach the people through Ayushman Bharat project. Already Central Government has sanctioned 64 thousand crore under this Head. Out of this amount 2600 crore has been sanctioned for health projects of West Bengal. Already in 2021-22, Rs. 3300 Crore has been granted to strengthen the health system of the state through National Health Mission. In the fight for Covid, Rs. 300 Crore has been granted to state under package one, and 1000 crore has been granted under package two. We can hope in near future all the citizens of the county will be able to get the best treatment under the Joint venture of the State and Central Government.
