- ‘11 at 11 – Pujo Through Their Eyes’ brings alive the spirit of Durga Puja through children’s imagination
Kolkata, September 25, 2026: Acropolis Mall celebrated its 11th birthday in a unique way by bringing together 11 children from Ektara, a renowned NGO based in Tangra, for a special initiative titled “11 at 11 – Pujo Through Their Eyes.”
As part of the initiative, the children were invited to portray the ensuing Durga Puja through their eyes. Each child was provided with a canvas, colours and painting materials and encouraged to give free rein to their imagination. Their paintings captured different facets of Durga Puja — from the Durga idol, dhaak and pandal hopping to family celebrations, food, new clothes, lights and friendship.
Acclaimed artist Eleena Banik was present on the occasion to encourage the young participants. Joining the children in their creative celebration, she also brought her own interpretation of Durga Puja alive on canvas.
The painting session culminated with Sushil Mohta, Chairman, Merlin Group, presenting goodies to the participating children. The celebrations concluded with a gala cake-cutting ceremony marking Acropolis Mall’s 11-year journey.
Acropolis Mall today completed 11 years of its journey in Kolkata. Since opening its doors in 2015, the mall has evolved from primarily a shopping destination into a vibrant experiential hub where shopping, dining, entertainment and celebrations come together. Over the years, it has emerged as a popular hangout destination for people across age groups and a place where families can spend quality time together.
Speaking on the occasion, Sushil Mohta, Chairman, Merlin Group, said, “Completing 11 years is a very special milestone for Acropolis Mall, and we wanted to celebrate it in a way that reflects the spirit of Kolkata and Durga Puja. Through ‘11 at 11 – Pujo Through Their Eyes’, we wanted children to express what Pujo means to them through their own imagination. Acropolis has evolved considerably over these 11 years — from being predominantly a shopping destination to becoming a space where shopping, food, entertainment, culture and community experiences come together. We thank our patrons, retailers and partners who have been an integral part of this journey.”
The initiative also celebrates Acropolis Mall’s continuing association with the cultural life of Kolkata, particularly during Durga Puja, when the mall becomes a destination for festive shopping, dining, entertainment and family experiences.
