MCKV is a West Bengal University of Technology-affiliated engineering institution. It was formed in 1999 and provides BTech, MTech, and MBA programmes. Students have all necessary amenities, such as housing, a fitness center, medical services, well-equipped labs, and a library.
It has been 25 years since MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth was founded and today, the institution stands strong, contributing in the best way possible to education. It’s now a name that’s synonymous with academic excellence. The success of any educational institution is determined by the impact it has on young minds. With the dedication and support of the school’s chairman, Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, and the academic team, the school has consistently sent out model citizens into the world. The school believes in the strengths and capabilities of a child and nurtures these using a perfect balance between scholastic and co-scholastic activities. Critical thinking, collaboration and effective communication are some of the basic skills the school strives to teach every student.
In terms of academic achievements, MCKV has achieved an aggregate percentage of 95% in recent times, with the average being around 89%. Given the fact that 80% of its students are first generation learners, it’s a laudable achievement. Its student Ankit Mondal excelled in ISC examination 2021, scoring an aggregate of 99.75%.
Even during the pandemic the school found new ways to address the crisis. Some unique pedagogical strategies were implemented to ensure that the entire teaching-learning process remains enjoyable and engaging. Moreover, sports and physical education have always been an integral part of the school’s curriculum. The cam pus has been designed to provide sufficient space for conducting indoor and outdoor sports, with the right infrastructure to support students who are good in sports. The school also has qualified and dedicated coaches and a structured sports curriculum. Stu dents also actively participate in several district, state and national-level tournaments, bringing home many prizes. In fact, MCKV was declared a Fit India School in 2019 by the Ministry of youth affairs and sports. MCKV is also one of the few schools in West Bengal to offer the NCC programme in its larger curriculum. The school’s boys’ scout movement has also gained popularity. In 2019, its scout members participated in State Scout Skill Competition and were declared the overall runners-up among 15 districts.
The school attaches lot of importance to co-curricular activities like music, dance, quiz and dramatics, among others. Students are encouraged to take part in various competitions. From winning prizes in the Rajya Sishu Kishor Utsav to grabbing the Bosco Show Time Award for Short Film Making in 2018 and 2019, the students have done it all.
The school is also involved in inclusive education for the differently abled children of the Bal Vikas Kendra since 1999. This has helped its students become more inclusive in their approach to life and grow to be better human beings. The school’s Social Development Committee constantly works to reach out to every corner of society and help the deprived, downtrodden and marginalized people. Among the many activities undertaken by the committee are Bhogdehi, a ration donation drive, virtual classes for residents of Prabartak, an orphan age in Chandannagar, plantation drives, health camps and many more.
The school also provides a conducive environment to teachers. Seminars, webinars and workshops are organized at regular intervals to help teachers upgrade their knowledge and stay positive. Recently the school’s Hindi department head, Pramila Singh, was felicitated with a memento and a certificate by a publisher for her contribution to Hindi language. Quite a few teachers have presented papers in some prestigious conferences like International Conference for School Leaders at IIT Delhi, the National Teachers Science Congress at Ahmedabad, International Science Festival at Lucknow and Annual Conference of the International Boys Schools’ Coalition at St Christopher’s School, Richmond, USA. Montgomery Bell Academy Nashville, USA, and Southport School, Gold Coast, Australia.
The school was accredited for the International School Award (now International Dimensions in Schools) by the British Council and won the coveted award for 2018-2021. Its students went to St Christopher’s School, Virginia, USA, as part of an exchange programme and attended classes and made presentations there on cultural aspects of India. The school has also received many awards and accolades.
