- A New York based Bengal girl named Urjani De walked the ramp in New York Fashion Week in Times Square on September 10, 2023.
Urjani is a 12 year old beautiful girl – an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer and fashionista, participated at the Fashion Show in Times Square in New York City and did the runway modeling for the famous fashion designers of India.
Urjani is now going to participate in Miss India New York of 2023 in the teen category.
Her passion is acting and dance.
Urjani is an eighth grader of the prestigious Hunter College High School of New York City. Since the age of four she is taking the lesson of piano and started to learn dance and acting at the age of six.
She is in the choir group at her school and an active member of South Asian Youth Association. In 2022, she participated in Miss India New York contest and was crowned as Miss Beautiful Angel.
She took part in various school productions including Guys and Dolls (played the role of Nicely Nicely Johnson) and Snow Angel (played the role of Eva).
She also played the lead role of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (as Charlie) and MATILDA (as Matilda) under the direction of Frederick Schiretta in American Drama Studio.
Besides Bharatnatyam, she takes the western Ballet and contemporary classes in MARTHA GRAHAM SCHOOL OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE in every summer.
She was a child artist in North American Bengali Conference 2016 in Madison Square Garden and she was a ballet and contemporary dancer in North American Bengali Conference 2023 at JIM WHELAN BOARDWALK HALL for the Indo-Italian Dance Drama MELANGE.
In 2022, she was photographed by Scholastic Book Club as a school aged model.
She is a classical pianist and performed a variety works of Bach, Beethoven and Frederic Chopin in various concerts.
