9th Durgapur International Film Festival

Keeping in mind the current challenging circumstances and uncertain times, the 9th Durgapur International Film Festival was successfully celebrated at the Dr. Triguna Sen Auditorium, Jadavpur University, on the 24th, 25th, and 26th of September.

Over three vibrant days, from 10 AM to 8 PM, the festival showcased 70 selected films from a total of 161 submissions received from India and abroad, creating a cultural mosaic that connected hearts through cinema.

Artists and filmmakers from around the globe, including the United States, Korea, France, Canada, China, Mexico, Iran, Bangladesh, as well as from various states of India like West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Mumbai, Pune, Rajasthan, and Delhi, participated, adding a unique charm and liveliness to the event. The festival was graced by notable Tollywood personalities.

A highlight of the festival was the honoring of the legendary actress Smt. Madhabi Mukherjee with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating her incredible contributions to the world of cinema.

The esteemed jury included distinguished personalities such as directors Shri Ashok Viswanathan, Smt. Shila Datta, Shri Sabyasachi Biswas, and Kazari Modak, whose discerning insights played a crucial role in recognizing cinematic excellence.

This year’s festival was not just an event but a celebration of art, culture, and the unwavering spirit of storytelling that unites us all.
