The world observes the United Nations Day every year on October 24, as on this day, the United Nations Charter came into force in 1945. This is a global celebration of the UN mission promoting peace, security and human rights development across the world.
The UN day 2024 was celebrated by WEBFUNA (WEST BENGAL FEDERATION OF UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION) at The Lalit Great Eastern Hotel , under the guidance of its Chairman Mr.Sitaram Sharma, with its core members ,as well as dignitaries from all walks of life like Prof. Saugata Roy – MP(Lok Sabha) & President of WEBFUNA, Ambassador Krishnan Srinivasan-IFS(Ret’d)Former Foreign Secretary of India & Former DSG of Commonwealth of Nations, Dr. Rahul Varma-SG of WEBFUNA, Dr. Kanchan Chakravarty & Mr. Saurabh Maheshwari- JS of WEBFUNA, Mr. Rajendra Khandelwal-Founder and Chairman of Dhanwantary Medicare, Mr. Imran Zaki – Social Entrepreneur & President of FACES, Mr. Bobby Chakraborty – Actor /Activist/Teacher of Method Acting, the trio also being The Executive Committee Members of WEBFUNA, along with many others present.
The unanimous cry among this august gathering and the gala dinner that followed, was the earnest request to the General Assembly of the UN, to wake up from it slumber and dive towards reviving world peace, when the world is slowly but surely inching towards destruction and genocidal Holocaust in the name of religion, region and faith.
