- An Annual Convocation Of Cinema To Honour The Outstanding Work Of The Film Fraternity
Kolkata, 27th December, 2022: West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association (WBFJA) today announced the nominations of the 7th edition of the West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award 2022 – ‘Cinemar Samabartan’. Chief Guest, Shri Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, National Award winner actor-director, Mr Kaushik Ganguly, renowned actress Ms Paoli Dam & popular directors Mr Birsa Dasgupta and Mr Prasun Chatterjee graced the occasion.
There are seventeen award categories in the popular segment, eight award categories in the Technical Award segment and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Cinemar Samabartan is the ultimate gathering of original storytellers, where the best talents of Bangla cinema will be awarded. This is an exceptional platform where the talents are judged by the film critics or journalists and it is the only Industry to Industry award ceremony. We have decided to keep the theme of the award ceremony as “Where There Is No Imagination There Is No Horror” to stimulates the imagination and create new perspectives. It is an attempt to enthuse the masses to indulge in their share of fun and excitement in the theatres”, said Mr Nirmal Dhar, Secretary, and West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association (WBFJA).
The nomination categories are Best Film, Best Director (In the memory of late Shri. Hiralal Sen), Best Actor in Leading Role, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Actor in a Negative Role, Best Actor in Comic Role, Best Music, Best Playback Singer (Male), Best Playback Singer (Female), Best Background Score, Most Promising Director, Most Promising Actor, Most Promising Actress, Most Popular Film of the Year, Most Popular Actor of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award (in the name of Late Satyajit Ray).
Award categories for the Technical segments are Best Screenplay, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Lyricist, Best Art Director, Best Sound Designer, Best Costume Designer and Best Makeup Artist.
WBFJA Award is the first digitally broadcasted event of the East. The Awards seeks out the leading lights of the Film industry, and will confer the best talents on 8th January, 2023 at the age old “Gem Cinema”, now an abandoned single screen building which was once a popular destination for cine-goers in the city, located at 159/8 AJC Bose Raod, Entally, Kolkata – 700014.
The nature of this award ceremony is Pure Bangaliana and only the film fraternity and journalists will attend the award ceremony.
