Premiere show of the movie “Humsaaz The Musical” was held at Cinepolis, Acropolis Mall Kolkata.
HumSaaz – The Musical, a unique blend of storytelling and music that’s directed by Soumyajit Ganguly and produced by Biocine Production House, explores the connections between relationships and music.
The Hindi film features 11 original songs by Shaan, Anwesshaa, and Abhay Jodhpurkar. Anwesshaa, who is the film’s music composer, is also making her acting debut in it along with model MD Iqbal, and newcomers Prakriti and Dhrupadi. A special dance sequence by Devlina Kumar adds flair to the storyline, while musicians Rajdeep, Kumarjit, and actor Ashok Singh make special appearances.
The story follows three friends, Khanak, Zoya, and Nisha, on a girls’ trip. But what starts as a peaceful journey takes a turn when Khanak meets Loy, an acquaintance from her Gurukul who denies knowing her. Things get more complicated when Loy’s colleague Akshay, his girlfriend Rupali make an entrance.
Talking about why the film stands out, Soumyajit says, “In Western musicals, it’s common for singers acting in a film. In HumSaaz, too, most of the artistes will be seen both singing and acting.”
The film is slated for release soon.
I’ve always been a fan of fairy tales and Broadway musicals and have often thought that these themes should be explored more in India. I hope HumSaaz can help start a trend of musicals
