Warming up to the exciting vibes of the party season in Kolkata, the Aditya Group officially launched ‘Baraf’, an 1800 sq ft. gorgeous bar lounge on Friday November 18 in the presence of fashion designer Debarun Mukherjee, featuring the videos of his Celebration Wear 2021-22 titled ‘Shahed.’ Located at 1518, Garia Main Road Barhans, Garia, Kolkata 700084, 3rd floor, Last Metro Building (Beside Kavi Nazrul Metro Station), Baraf offers delectable food options with assorted branded spirits and refreshing craft cocktails. To top it all, Baraf’s regular fixture of live band performances is an apt addition to the bar-lounge’s lively evenings making its ambience fun-filled, carefree and endearing.
The event was also attended by models Sushmita Roy, Rana Mukherjee, Pushkar, Sanghashree Roy, Priyanshu Thakur, Chandan Kumar among others. Team Baraf comprising Anirban Aditya, Chairman of Aditya Group who looks after after tie-ups, fundraising and expansion; Ankit Aditya, Vice-Chairman of Aditya Group concept designer and project executor; and Roshni Aditya, Managing Director of Aditya Group who looks into into menu curation, operations and planning he launch.
Roshni Aditya elaborated the concept behind the name Baraf. “The name “Baraf” has been chosen to add the flavour of desi vibe and also appeal to the modern cosmopolitan youth. It also has the touch of “bar” into it, plus ‘af’ – which stands for ‘as fun’ – turning into ‘bar- as-fun’.” Roshni also pointed out Baraf’s unique feature of indulging willing guests to perform Bengali folk music – a heart-warming and bold feature which probably no other bar lounge has tried in the city.
With its amalgamation of live music, specialty drinks, delicious multi-cuisine food and the tropical themed interiors, Baraf has already danced its way into the hearts of Kolkatans. Talking about the interior design, Ankit Aditya said, “In order to give it a stark contrast to its cluttered urban surroundings, Baraf adds a twist of tropical freshness to otherwise industrial-rustic themed interior décor. The combination of sand-toned wooden floors and icy blue sidewalls exude a vibrant beach vibe. The bare brick-patterned corner walls and pillars with the industrial-styled, neon-lit ceiling anchors the décor theme to its urban exteriors. The bar counter looks inviting behind the Moroccan mosaic front wall with sleek and sturdy furniture flaunting a peppy colour palette.”
Baraf’s official tie-up with Debarun Mukherjee is a coming together of warmth and elegance – two core elements that give Kolkata its distinctive characteristics and perhaps makes it the only city with a soul. Inspired by the from, colour, texture, taste, essence, and fluidity of honey, ‘Shahed’ features a collection of muted grey, pastel mint, dull green and salmon muted pink pastel shades in classy, fine-spun embellishments. It is a celebration of the diversity of relationships that comprise the subtle and diverse shades of love. The tie-up is also an occasion to bring together renowned celebrities and distinguished movers and shakers from the social and arts gamut of the city to earmark the grand start of a journey that embraces love, diversity and mutual respect.
Mukherjee sums up the collaboration beautifully in his own words. “Baraf and I decided to come together with the most important emotion of all – “love.” Through these shades in the happy environs of Baraf, we wish to convey this universal feeling which is as sweet and healing as honey.”
