It is high time to educate people about the risk factors, which can lead towards cardiac ailment. During the pandemic, we have seen that cardiac incidents were on a rise.

A number of patients developed cardiac ailments during Long Covid period. With an experience of over three decades, this year the hospital has given a new lease of life to more than a thousand patients who took that one risk to come forward and got themselves treated at the hospital.

Age has become just a number in front of the surging cases of heart ailments all around the world. Heart ailments are not restricted to any certain age group or condition nowadays. Amidst this pandemic scenario, we are observing many cases of shortness of breath, increased or decreased heart rate, palpitation and angina which lead to fear and anxiety.

There are severe problems like heart attack, thrombosis, blood clot formation, Myocarditis etc. which can be fatal if not treated immediately. With outstanding clinical expertise and state of art infrastructure at BM Birla Heart Research Centre, complex cardiac cases witnessed excellent clinical outcomes.

On the occasion of World Heart Day, Dr. Simmardeep Gill, COO, CK Birla Hospitals emphasizes on the importance of taking care of your heart. He says, “During the last one and a half year, most of the hospitals including our super speciality Cardiac Centre were thronged with cardiac patients.

One of the reasons behind this surge was the sceptical attitude of the society towards their routine checkup. For a period of time, people neglected their cardiac health as they had an imperative fear of Covid. Through this medium, I want to urge all of you to go back to your preventive cardiac check-up routines. If there is any sort of intervention required, one must get it done in a timely manner before it becomes a grave cardiac issue.”

BM Birla Heart Research Centre continued to admit and manage difficult cardiac patients of all stages during the pandemic providing excellent clinical outcomes. Speaking about the clinical excellence, Dr. Gill further adds, “The has operated on some unique cases both in paediatrics and in the adult group during the last 8-12 months. We want to make sure that every patient of India who requires any sort of cardiac intervention should avail the expertise available at BMB. Our centre is the be-all and end-all cardiac care centre. On the behalf of our organization, I would want to appeal to everybody to look after your heart. Whatever tests or checkups you have missed due to the pandemic, please come back to the hospitals and get them done. In this way, we can genuinely avoid the surge of emergency cases.” He concludes.
