Kolkata, September 25, 2024: Acropolis Mall, one of India’s leading state-of-the-art shopping destinations, celebrated its 9th anniversary on 25th September,2024. Marking the occasion just ahead of Durga Puja, the biggest festival for Bengalis, the mall held a humble yet joyous celebration.

As part of the event, Shri Sushil Mohta, Chairman of Merlin Group and developer of Acropolis Mall, distributed new clothes to children from Pathchala in presence of Rukmini Paul , President, Pathchala and Subhadip Basu, GM. Acropolis Mall. Pathchala is a non-profit organization that supports underprivileged children in the Kalighat area. The new garments, gifted in time for Durga Puja, brought smiles to the faces of the young recipients. The celebration also featured a vibrant classical dance performance by Trisha Das Mandal and her troupe, as well as a special performance by the children of Pathchala. The festivities concluded with a grand cake-cutting ceremony in honour of Acropolis Mall’s birthday.

The audience was treated to a captivating performance by Odissi dancer and choreographer Trisha Das Mandal and her team, who presented a sequence that included a Ganesh Vandana, a semi-classical piece, and Agamani songs heralding the arrival of Goddess Durga, along with a lively folk medley.

Since its inception in 2015, Acropolis Mall has significantly contributed to the local economy and become a prominent landmark for both residents and visitors in Kolkata. Commenting on the mall’s growth, Shri Sushil Mohta remarked, “Acropolis Mall has transformed the character of its neighbourhood, bringing in residential blocks and branded retail outlets. It has evolved into a popular hangout spot where people of all ages gather with friends and family. The mall has become a favorite destination for family entertainment.”
The construction of Acropolis Mall has also enhanced the Rashbehari Connector area, which is now commonly referred to as the “Acropolis Bus Stop” by locals and public transportation.

Mohta further added, “In today’s time, neighborhoods are incomplete without shopping malls or centers. Malls create a unique experience with their comprehensive offerings in retail, dining, and entertainment for all age groups. They also have great potential to generate employment, from blue-collar to white-collar jobs, which is vital for urban and suburban areas. With increasing migration from rural to urban centers for healthcare, education, and employment, malls play a crucial role in providing job opportunities. I foresee substantial growth in areas where new malls are developed.”

Rukmini Paul, President of Pathchala, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are thankful to Merlin Group for providing new clothes to the children of Pathchala, bringing joy to their hearts. Merlin Group has been a kind supporter of our mission to educate underprivileged children.”
