Lions Club of Calcutta District 322B1, ‘Sports Committee’ & ‘Committee for Hearing & Speech Impaired’ in association with Round Table India CMRT 113 is organizing the Paralympic Sports event for specially abled children under the name of “Aashayein—Roshni Umeedon Ki” on 22nd Jan 2023 from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m at Gitanjali Stadium Ground, Kasba By-Pass Connector, Kolkata.
About 33 schools with 600 specially abled children participating in this event to spend their entire day together under one roof and being engaged in different sports activities organized by the Club. We distribute Food packet for breakfast & Lunch / T-Shirts & Caps / Track Suits and gift hampers to all participants having bags, stationeries, biscuits and chocolates.
The various competitive games held such as 50 meter flat race, 100 meter flat race, SBT Ball throw, Marble and Spoon Race, Shot Put, Skipping Race and Low Hurdles. The sports activities will be conducted under the guidance of 42 members of sports conductors from Sodepur Refree Association.
This is the 7th year and both clubs members are giving their tremendous effort to make it an bigger success as compared to the earlier editions. Aashayein is really close to our hearts. people may look at these kids as differently abled but they are gods wonders who are specially abled. They don’t deserve ignorance or glares, just a little encouragement is what they ask for giving them a chance to shine. Nothing gives us more joy in bringing smiles on the faces of the children who come to participate. Aashayein celebrates the never dying spirit to face all sorts of odds in life and come out as a true champion. Everyone who shall come to participate in Aashayein is already a winner!’
Children with disability are like butterflies with a broken wing. They are just as beautiful as all others, but they need motivation and an extended hand to make them feel important. Lions Club of Calcutta and Round Table India was all set to take this noble initiative of being a part and more importantly a reason behind their beautiful smiles.
