Kolkata, October 26, 2026: Kolkata-based creator Preeti Sarkar hosted her first-ever community meetup, Chai Latte with Preeti, at Hashtag, Kolkata, in association with L’Oréal Paris. The intimate gathering brought Preeti and her community together for honest conversations, interactive activities and a celebration of individuality.
During a candid conversation, Preeti reflected on the challenges she faced when she first came to Kolkata to pursue acting, including an upsetting audition-related experience that left her questioning whether she belonged in the industry. She also spoke about facing criticism over her appearance during a brand shoot—an experience that struck a personal chord, given her longstanding insecurities.
“The same girl who was once made to feel insecure about her appearance went on to become the face of an international hair colour brand,” she shared. “Never let someone else’s beauty standards decide how big you can dream.”
Preeti also spoke about starting her content-creation journey with little more than a phone, sunlight and an improvised tripod. Her turning point, she said, came when she stopped trying to emulate others and began creating in her own voice. Reflecting on the lessons her journey has taught her, she added: “Don’t waste your life trying to prove people wrong. Just keep building a life that makes you proud.”
The afternoon continued with Chai Latte Bingo, Kulhad Pong, DIY charm-making and special surprises, alongside refreshments, photographs and informal conversations with Preeti, fellow creators and friends. The gathering offered the community an opportunity to connect beyond the digital space and celebrate the experiences that have shaped Preeti’s journey.
