TUFCON’s ₹5,500 Crore Proposed Bihar Investment to Focus on Building a Stronger Industrial Ecosystem

Kolkata, 20th September, 2026:TUFCON is looking at its proposed ₹5,500 crore investment in Bihar as more than an expansion of manufacturing capacity, with a broader focus on creating an integrated industrial ecosystem around its future operations.

Speaking about the strategic significance of the proposed investment, Mr. Suuraj Gupta, Director, TUFCON, said that manufacturing capacity would be an important component of the project, but the larger opportunity lies in the development of employment, logistics, ancillary industries, services and wider regional economic activity.

“I see this as an ecosystem opportunity. Manufacturing capacity is an important part of it, but around that, employment, logistics, ancillary industries, services and regional economic activity can also develop. The Chakai project is therefore not just a manufacturing project for us. It is about creating a stronger industrial ecosystem around TUFCON’s future.”

The company is also looking at Greenfield projects in Bihar and Nagpur, with scale being complemented by efficiency, technology and consistent quality.
According to Mr. Gupta, expansion cannot be viewed simply in terms of increasing production. The focus is also on developing better processes, adopting appropriate technology and improving operational efficiency while maintaining quality standards.

“Scale without efficiency is not sustainable. When we talk about expansion, the objective is not just more production. We are looking at better processes, better technology, operational efficiency and consistent quality. A future-ready manufacturing organisation should be able to respond quickly to demand while maintaining quality standards.”

He further emphasised that technology should serve a practical purpose within the manufacturing ecosystem—improving processes, products and ultimately customer value.
“Technology has a simple purpose: better processes leading to better products and better customer value.”

Mr. Indranil Dutta — Corporate Head, TUFCON
Reflecting on TUFCON’s nine-year journey and its evolution from brand-building to ecosystem-building, Mr. Indranil Dutta, Corporate Head, TUFCON, said:
“For me, TUFCON’s journey can be summed up in one sentence: From building a brand to building a community, and now building an ecosystem. Nine years mein humne brand identity build ki, customers ka trust earn kiya aur dealers-distributors ke saath strong relationships create kiye.

Sankalp 2026 was a celebration of that collective journey. Aaj ka Golden Dealers Meet us journey ka next expression hai.”
Speaking about the proposed Bihar investment and Greenfield projects in the context of TUFCON’s brand-building journey, he added:
“I think the story is moving from brand expansion to ecosystem expansion. Manufacturing capability grow hoti hai toh brand ko stronger foundation milta hai. Distribution grow hota hai toh reach wider hoti hai. Relationships grow hote hain toh trust deeper hota hai.

Proposed projects therefore become part of a larger TUFCON story: stronger manufacturing, wider presence and greater value creation.”

The discussion highlighted TUFCON’s broader vision of combining manufacturing scale, technological advancement, operational efficiency and ecosystem development as the company explores its future growth opportunities.
