Kolkata, 25th August,2026: A wooden canvas, a handful of cryptic clues and a village unwilling to give up its secrets — GHUN GAON – CHAPTER 1 brought its dark and mysterious world off the screen with “The *Canvas of Secrets,” a specially conceptualised event held at Cafe Bong, Hindustan Park, Kolkata.The Event offered a glimpse into the film’s unsettling universe without giving away its mystery.
Instead of revealing conventional character details, the cast transformed the specially created wooden canvas into a trail of clues, leaving behind words and symbols connected to the characters they portray.
Fear. Betrayal. Revenge. Trust.
Every stroke carried a clue. Every clue hinted at a secret. Yet the answers remained deliberately hidden.
Ranojoy Bishnu, Sankar Debnath, Rohini Chatterjee and Soumya Majumdar, along with director Soumya Roy Choudhury and other members of the cast and crew, came together for the event, bringing different fragments of the film’s mystery onto one canvas.
Directed by Soumya Roy Choudhury and produced by Cinekrazy Entertainment, GHUN GAON – CHAPTER 1 enters the unsettling world of a seemingly quiet village where buried truths, deception and fractured trust gradually begin to surface. What appears familiar soon turns unpredictable, as every character carries something to reveal and something they would rather keep hidden.
Speaking about the film and the thought behind The Canvas of Secrets, director Soumya Roy Choudhury said, “GHUN GAON is a story where nothing is quite what it appears to be. Every character carries something they reveal and something they deliberately hide. The wooden canvas reflects that world the audience can see the clues, but understanding what they truly mean is another story. I believe Bengali audiences will experience a dark thriller of this kind for the first time.”
Adding another dimension to the film’s dark and atmospheric world is its music, composed by Tunai Debasish Ganguly. The soundtrack brings together the voices of Sunidhi Chauhan, Timir Biswas, Sayantani Ghosh and Srishti Rawani, with lyrics penned by Pramit Ghosh, creating a musical landscape that complements the tension, mystery and emotional undercurrents of the narrative.
The film’s technical craft further deepens its atmosphere, with Tuhin’s cinematography creating an immersive visual world, Aneesh Basu’s sound design intensifying its unsettling mood, and Pradyut Chatterjea’s background score adding to the tension and mystery.
More than a promotional reveal, The Canvas of Secrets became an extension of the film’s storytelling. The cast left their marks, the clues became visible, but their meanings remained concealed mirroring a film where every apparent truth could be hiding another layer underneath.
As GHUN GAON – CHAPTER 1 moves closer to its theatrical release, the mystery is only beginning to deepen. With every character guarding a truth and every clue opening the door to another secret, the film invites audiences into a world where appearances deceive and trust comes at a price. The canvas may carry the clues, but the village is still holding on to its darkest secrets.
