HCL Group, a US$14.8 billion global conglomerate, in association with the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI), concluded the Kolkata leg of the HCL Squash PSA Challenger Tour at The Calcutta Racket Club, held from 10–14 August 2026. The tournament is part of HCL’s annual multi-city squash tour, sanctioned by the Professional Squash Association (PSA), and aimed at creating more competitive opportunities for Indian squash players. Returning to Kolkata following a successful edition in 2025, the tournament featured 48 players from 7 countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Switzerland and Germany. The field included 20 players ranked in the top 200 of the PSA World Rankings, with competitors vying for prize money of US$9,000 each in the Men’s and Women’s categories. Over five days, the tournament gave Indian players the opportunity to compete against experienced international professionals on home courts, gain valuable exposure and earn PSA ranking points.
In the men’s final, Seif Refaay (Egypt) defeated Mohamed Gohar (Egypt) with a scoreline 6-11, 11-7, 11-7 to clinch the title. In the women’s final, Sohayla Hazem (Egypt) got the better of Menna Walid (Egypt) with a scoreline- 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 11-8 to lift the championship trophy.
The Kolkata tournament forms part of HCL and SRFI’s broader efforts to expand opportunities for Indian players to compete at the international level and progress on the professional circuit. The HCL Squash Tour is also helping build a stronger competitive base for Indian squash as the sport prepares to make its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
